In Denmark, two men partner to design, manufacture and market a line of instruments, using their own unique experiences. Ultimately, what is realized is a unique approach to the design and execution of a sports watch and modular sports instrument compliment, incomparable in the industry. The marketing and delivery of each is also equally as unique. In 2002, Jorn Werdelin and Morten Linde partnered to develop a new idea: a highly crafted sports watch, when required, can be combined with a professional digital instrument to provide the right level of information at the right time for skiing and diving.
Morten Linde is an unconventional designer and the creative source of LINDE WERDELIN.Morten has designed numerous iconic objects from the Copenhagen public park chairs to audio systems; winning many industry-leading prizes and awards throughout his career. A functionalist, Morten strongly believes that “it’s easy to make something look good, but that’s not the point”. It is a lot harder to design a lasting object that will not age or become obsolete.
Jorn Werdelin is the visionary and driving force of LINDE WERDELIN. Jorn’s grandfather opened the first family jewellery and watch boutique in Aalborg, Denmark, selling luxury and technical watches. At 14, Jorn sees a new high-end sports watch that will spark an ever-growing passion for watches. As an entrepreneur, Jorn fuses the spirit of freeride skiing with business: pushing the boundaries by finding a way, not by taking uncalculated risks; revisiting the old to create and experience the new.
In the winter of 1996, Jorn Werdelin, a keen mountaineer and off-piste skier, was taken by surprise in a bout of bad weather, got lost, skied off a cliff and broke his back. LINDE WERDELIN was born out of this life-threatening event in the Swiss Alps, a 40 year friendship and an uncompromising drive for genuine usefulness and style.
The next generation of Linde Werdelin watches began to arrive at the end of
2011, with the introduction of the SpidoSpeed Chronographs and the Spidolite ii. Now, in August 2012, the Oktopus ii models are into stock and upping the ante for sophisticated details on a dive model. The original Oktopus was a traditional deep water dive watch, done in the technical style that only Linde Werdelin have been able to pull off. The Oktopus ii is a modular case of mixed technical materials (titanium, ceramic) with a grand date calibre and unique partial peek-a-boo dial. Next!
